Have you received a message from your client that your website down and you never realized it? Its pain. People don’t like their website down (me neither). At least, if you know it first you can at least do something about it.
One of the services that I have used for a long time is..
Uptimerobot
Uptimerobot is a service to monitor website URL.
It's a freemium model but the free plan is good enough for me.
For me, the free package is good enough to track all of my websites.
For the free version, this service will check the website every 5 minutes and support 50 URLs.
Notification
One of the best things about using Uptimerobot that they have decent notification channels.
Currently, Uptimerobot supports 3 channels
- Slack
- Telegram
If there’s anything happens, it will send you the notification.
Personally, I'm using it on my telegram. If one of my websites not reachable, then it will send me a telegram message and if the website is up again, it will send me a message again.
Use case
- I'm using it to track my client website
- I’ve several API services running as a CRON job
- For sure, my website
Status Page
If you have a business that relies on multiple websites, you can create a public status page for it. This is one of the example pages, I’m using right now. You can embed this link on your website.
This week, my server was down 2 times (Linode Singapore server) so this service help me to aware of any incidents.
